Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

We collect what we need to quote, print and ship your order and to reply when you write to us, plus a little about how you found us, so we know which of our ads and listings work. We don't sell any of it.

Information We Collect

When you use our services, we may collect:

• Contact information: Your name, email address, and phone number (if provided) so we can communicate about your order.
• If you sign in with Google: Google tells us your name, your email address and a link to your profile picture. We use them to create your account and sign you in, and for nothing else. We never see your Google password and can't reach anything else in your Google account.
• 3D model files: The STL or 3MF files you upload for quoting and printing purposes.
• Order details: Your printing preferences, specifications, and any notes you provide.
• How you found us: Each quote records the type of browser you used. If you came from another site or an ad in the week before, a cookie remembers that site, any campaign tags in the link and Google's ad click ID, and we save those with your quote too.
• What you drop on the quote form: Before you send anything, we're told the type, size and dimensions of each file you drop, and your browser type when the form can't use a file. Never the file itself or its name.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Provide you with quotes for your 3D printing projects
• Communicate with you about your orders
• Print and deliver your projects
• Respond to your questions and support requests
• Send you our mailing list, but only if you asked us to
• See which of our ads and listings bring people to us

Our Mailing List

Joining is something you have to do on purpose. There is a signup form at the bottom of every page, and a checkbox on the quote form that is never checked for you. If you sign up through the footer we send a confirmation email first, and you are not added until you click the link in it.

We record the date, your IP address, the page you were on and the exact wording you agreed to. That record is how we can show your subscription was genuine, and it is the reason we can keep the list clean.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link and our postal address at the bottom. Unsubscribing stops the marketing and nothing else. You'll still get emails about your quotes and orders, because those are part of the service. The two are sent through different providers and neither list can be used for the other.

The list is managed for us by Brevo, whose servers are in the European Union. They process the addresses on our instructions and do not use them for anything of their own.

Your 3D Models

Your model might be a product you haven't launched yet, or something personal. Here's how we look after it:

• We delete them on a schedule: Thirty days after your order is finished, we delete the model file itself. An upload that never became a quote goes after fourteen days.
• Unless you ask us to keep one: Saving a part to your library is what tells us to hold on to the file, so you can reorder it in one click instead of finding and uploading it again. It stays until you unsave it.
• The picture outlives the model: We keep the small preview image and the order record after the file is gone, so your order history still means something. The geometry, which is the part worth protecting, is destroyed.
• We don't share your models: Your designs are yours. Only the services that store and print your order handle them (listed below), and we never sell them or use them for anything else.
• We don't claim ownership: You retain all rights to your designs. We're just here to print them for you.

Your Photos

If you send us a photo, here's how we look after it:

• We keep it privately, and only to make your print or answer your design request: It's stored where only we can reach it, and any location or camera details are removed when you upload it.
• We delete it on a schedule: A lithophane's photo goes thirty days after your order is finished, or fourteen days after you upload it if you never order. For anything else made from a photo, the photo and the model made from it go thirty days after they're made if you don't buy it, or thirty days after your order is finished if you do. Photos sent with a design request go fourteen days after we close the request, or thirty days after your order is finished if it becomes one.
• Lithophanes are prepared here: We make them with our own custom developed software in-house, so no one else sees that photo.
• Design requests stay here: Only our own team sees those photos.
• Meshy makes the rest: For a figure, bust, statue, lamp, keycap, pixel board or fidget, your photo goes to Meshy, the service that turns it into a 3D model (see below).

Confidential Projects

If your project is confidential and needs an NDA, email us at hello@local3dprinting.com before you upload anything. Uploading is the moment you share the file, so we'd rather agree how it will be handled first. We're happy to work under your NDA.

What We Don't Do

To be crystal clear, we will never:

• Sell your personal information to third parties
• Use your contact information for unsolicited marketing
• Share your 3D models beyond the services that store and print your order
• Keep your files beyond the schedule above, unless you have saved the part yourself
• Use your designs for our own purposes

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. Your files are transmitted securely, stored in a private location that is not publicly readable, and reachable only through short-lived links we issue. They are deleted on the schedule set out above.

Who Else Handles Your Information

We're a small shop, so some of the work is done by services we pay for. Here's each one, what it does for us, and what it gets. Each has its own privacy policy.

• Supabase is our database and file storage. It holds your account, your quotes and orders, and your models until they're deleted on the schedule above.
• Vercel hosts this website. Like any host, it sees your IP address and browser type when you visit. Its visitor counts don't use cookies.
• SimplyPrint runs our printers. Once you've paid, it gets your model and its print settings, labeled with your quote number, so the job can go to a printer. It doesn't get your name, email or address.
• Meshy turns your photo into a 3D model when you make a figure, bust, statue, lamp, keycap, pixel board or fidget. It gets the photo, and never your name, email or account. It deletes the models it makes after three days.
• Shopify handles checkout. You pay on Shopify's page, so it gets your name, email, shipping address and payment details. Your card number goes to Shopify, never to us. Shopify also sends the email with your tracking number.
• The shipping carrier gets your name and delivery address, as with any parcel.
• Resend sends our emails about your quotes and orders, and the confirmation when you write to us. It gets your email address and the message.
• Brevo runs our mailing list, and only if you join it (see above).
• Crisp runs the live chat. It stores the messages you send us and sets a cookie so a conversation can pick up where you left off.
• Cloudflare Turnstile checks that our forms are filled in by a person rather than a bot. It looks at your browser, not at what you type.
• Google Tag Manager, Analytics and Ads show us which pages and ads bring people to the site. They use cookies to do that. Their cookies can let Google collect information about your visits here and on other websites over time. You can turn off ad personalization in Google's own settings at myadcenter.google.com.
• PostHog shows us how the site is used and tells us when something on it breaks. It sees your IP address, which gives a rough location, your browser type, the pages you visit and where you click. It can also record your visit, with the words on the page and anything you type hidden. If you have an account, PostHog gets its ID number, never your name or email. It sets a cookie so a visit can be followed from page to page.
• Slack is where our team gets a short alert when a quote comes in: its number, the parts' size and material, and how you found us. Never your name, email or files.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we have about you
• Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
• Ask us to delete your information
• Opt out of any marketing communications

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. There's no agreed standard for what a site should do with it, so ours doesn't respond to it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
